Sesson 5 Recap: Kyle Public Library Adult Game

The city beckons: a bath, a meal, and a bed. The streets of the city below bustled with people moving to and fro, merchants hawking their wares or going about their day. The large gates stood open and welcoming to travelers, embossed in some precious metal and sporting an enormous “G.” Among the residents of the city, many gnomes could be seen dodging back and forth between the legs of larger passers-by on their way to one place or another. The adventurers even encountered a humanoid creature with wings who moved along politely. This was their introduction to the Grand, home of the Garricks. Masters of forging weapons and armor, the Garricks were one of the three major family syndicates vying for mercantile control of the continent, including the Vitta and the Morningstars. Supposedly, almost all of the Garricks’ defensive capability rested in the hands of 5 individuals whose identity was unknown except to those who held their reins. There would be no help for the group to be found here from their Vitta patrons.

Rest was found at the Sleep Inn, along with baths and food. The sad state of the travelers’ filthy clothes drew the curious stares of many, but soon enough they were relaxing and looking after the curios and trinkets they took with them from the Undercrypt. While Weiss looked for instruments of his divine craft and Usk searched for a pond, the others eventually ended up at the Drunken Stump, a sanctuary of nature within the urban expanse. Among the leaves and tree branches of this grimy bar, there was enjoyment on offer from various sources. One member of the group, at least, took advantage of what fruits could be plucked from this strange tree. A fierce woman, Artemis, seated herself among the adventurers with her curiosity piqued. She took Krend to bed, leaving the rest to speak with a half-orc named Summer, who brought them a task of some difficulty: locate and slay a tyrannosaurus rex, prince of dinosaurs, and return with various components of the beast as proof and provenance. Were they to deliver these items to Serena Stillwater, apprentice mastersmith of the Grand. While Summer seemed sure of the possibility of killing the beast, the others were…hesitant.

Usk, alien traveler and practitioner of foul magic that he was, found himself out of place after his wanderings. His roaring frightened a citizen of the Grand, leading to his arrest by guardsmen. A pile of peacekeepers dragged his enormous alabaster frame away, perhaps even to the fiery rim of the volcano.

Notes from a journal
“The Grand is a messy, loud, sprawling place, but exciting. We found comfort here, at least, much needed after the harrowing experience of escaping the Undercrypt. I felt clean for the first time in weeks. At least, for a bit. Now, though? Now, I know what a milk-cow feels like.”
